First Dr. Sketchy’s of the year, Monday, January 26th! With Lucille Lingerhans von Spankenstein!

Your holidays sucked, didn’t they? No scantily-clad pretty folk lounging about for you to draw? No one gave you a shot for drawing with your left hand? Did it seem irresponsible to spill a pint of beer on your drawing and pretend it was an accident so you could give it that Dr. Sketchy’s touch?

Well, you’re in luck. Dr. Sketchy’s-Baltimore is through with our travelling, we’ve paid bail for everyone arrested in the eggnog/polar bear incident, and our hangovers from visiting the Dr. Sketchy’s in NYC have receeded far enough for us to start whole new ones.

And look at that flyer…..Lucille Lingerhans von Spankenstein of Gilded Lily Burlesque is who you were waiting for over that long, dark, gloomy holiday break. Trust us, she’s a LOT more fun to sketch than your grandmother’s cat.

Not only that, but Artist & Craftsman Supply, on 137 West North Ave in Station North, along with Atomic Books on 1100 W 36th St. in Hampden, will be providing all sorts of prizes for you to compete for while you attempt to capture Ms. Spankenstein’s glory on paper.

As always, we’re at Dionysus (who’s been very nice not to call the police on anyone yet), from 7 to 10 pm. So gear up, dust off your pencils, sharpen your liver, and tell anyone who gets nosy that you’re heading to the library.

Photos from Dec 8th with La Malicia Pajarita and Paco Fish!

Dec 8th’s session was EASILY one of the best yet.  If you missed it, well, I just don’t know what to tell you.  La Malicia Pajarita and Paco’s performance was so good, I’m just going to give into the impulse and put up almost every single photo we took.  Why should be obvious as you start to go through.

As usual, the first set of poses were the 1- and 2-minute poses…

Next were the 5- and 10-minute poses, which were easily the crowd’s favorite.  La Malicia and Paco really did do an amazing job….everyone was laughing so hard I’m not sure if anyone got any drawing done or not.

Easily the funniest set of poses I’ve seen yet.  I wasn’t even drunk (yet) either.

After that, it was contest time…..the first contest being the habitual (or at least so far) draw with your off-hand with the winners, who are obviously too sober, being forced to correct that mistake.

Special thanks to Atomic Books, who kindly donated a gift card for the next contest…if you don’t know where they are yet, one, I’m going to assume you just moved to Baltimore, two, it’s on Falls Rd. just off the Avenue in Hampden.  We’re going to have even more sponsors in 2009 btw, it sounds like.

In any case, then it was time for more poses.

We can not thank La Malicia Pajarita and Paco Fish enough for what is easily one of the best sessions we’ve had yet.  Also, thank you to Dionysus for letting us drop pencil shavings everywhere (Oh, and if you didn’t know, your bartender Andrew had his 30th birthday the very next night and got to break open a pinata in the bar…he hates anyone mentioning his birthday so it only feels appropriate to include something about it here)….what was I talking about?  Oh yes, and thanks to Jeff for photos and Jeff and Bill for helping us scoot furniture around, run the door, and lots and lots of other random things.

Our next session—our first of 2009—will be January 26, Monday, from 7 to 10 o’clock with the glorious Lucille Lingerhans von Spankenstein.   As soon as all this holiday crap is done with, we’ll have some more info up with the flyer and all that stuff.  In any case, have a good holiday (Notice that?  Yeah, that’s right, we are all up on that whole War On Christmas stuff.  Yep, that’s right, I said it.) and we’ll see you in January.

Viola Van Wilde’s session on Nov. 24 was one of our best yet, though frankly, the photos alone should tell you that. 🙂  Special thanks to Viola Van Wilde of Gilded Lily for giving us some absolutely stunning poses and costumes to draw, and who without, we’d have been drawing that red couch.

Thanks to Atomic Books for sponsoring us and providing prizes to give away and to the folks at Dionysus for the space and getting us liquored up,  Jeff for photography, and to everyone who attended for putting up with my apparently complete lack of ability to count change.

If you missed the 24th, don’t cry…..well, maybe you honestly should a little, Viola had a NUN HABIT…..you really can’t top that……BUT, if you missed the 24th, our last session of 2008 is tonight,  Dec 8, at 7:00 with TWO models, La Malicia Pajarita and Paco Fish.  You should probably cry if you miss that one too.
