Dr. Sketchy’s Baltimore’s 14th Anniversary featuring Blu
Thursday, June 9 at Creative Alliance

It’s been 14 years since the launch of Dr. Sketchy’s Baltimore! And, thanks to the pandemic, it’s the first anniversary we’re getting to celebrate at Creative Alliance—the last anniversary session was our 11th one, which was also the last event at our dearly departed Windup Space. So come celebrate (and of course drink and draw) with us! We’ve traditionally had a favorite veteran model return for these sessions, but we’re changing it up this year with an amazing new performer: the fantastically flexible Blu!
Here’s more about our June muse:
“Blu is a multidisciplinary artist & performer, cultural worker, and healer based out of the DMV area.
“Blu frequents DC nightlife spaces centering QTBIPOC, kink/bdsm culture and is a regular at The Haux Hive. When they are not twirling on stage or teaching pole dancing, Blu works full time in gender-based violence prevention and response, and can also be found on the streets making art with communities on the front line of the abolitionist movement.
“Their organizing work and their artistry are deeply intertwined. Blu is interested in exploring ways of being and thriving outside of the chaotic and oppressive nature of the world we currently live in. Through their personal visual arts and movement work, Blu invites others to join them in the process of coming home to ourselves, our bodies, to Mother Nature and to our ancestors.”

Enjoy a delicious cocktail or three and join in our crazy drawing contests for a chance to win some neat prizes from our new sponsor, Rust-N-Shine! No drawing experience is necessary—just remember to bring your own drawing materials, and be ready to generously tip our model!

** This will be our last session until September! **

A few things to know about our venue!

As Creative Alliance will be handling our ticket sales through their website and box office, a service fee will be applied to transactions made online or over the phone and in-person ticket sales made within three hours of the event. You can avoid this fee by purchasing tickets in person at Creative Alliance the day before or earlier (they’re open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Creative Alliance members save on admission to Sketchy’s and the variety of other events and workshops CA has to offer, so if you look through their calendar and like what you see, consider becoming a CA member!

Lastly, if you’ve found yourself in a back row at past Sketchy’s sessions, unable to see the model from the waist-down without having to stand, take note: Creative Alliance’s theater is huge, has a slightly higher stage than the Windup’s, and there are no columns or giant speakers between you and the model, so we expect most attendees should have a head-to-toe view of the model! You’re also more likely to be able to get a seat at a table. We still encourage you to arrive early for the best seats, and Creative Alliance advises that seats are only held for ticket buyers for 25 minutes after an event starts.
