Femme 6’s Poetry in Pasties tonight!

Okay, so we’ve slacked off a little (hey, we’re technically on break, so that’s okay, right?) and haven’t finished the recap of last month’s session with Femme 6. But you can catch her—along with other Dr. Sketchy’s models, specifically Maria Bella, Paco Fish, Marla Meringue, and Roma Mafia—tonight at Mobtown Theater, in Poetry in Pasties. Here’s a bit about the show:

There will be gravity-defying feats of breathtaking beauty, original writings by the performers themselves, retro beat poetry with a twist, classical poems re-imagined in acts of striptease, comedy and drama, a special tribute to Charm City, and many, many more surprises to stimulate you– intellectually! 😉 All of this for only $10?? WOWEEEE!

Write this down where you won’t forget it:

THIS SUNDAY, August 14th
DOORS AT 8:30, SHOW AT 9!
only $10 at the door, and there’s booze!
Mobtown Theater at Meadow Mill
3600 Clipper Mill Rd
Hampden, Maryland

Do yourself a favor and come satisfy your craving for a mind-body experience like no other. Poetry in Pasties!

We’re sure your weekend could use a little more culture and hotness, so end it right with some literary striptease.

So, since we’re been taking our sweet time to put up the recap of Femme 6’s session with us, consider this the last call for sketches of our lovely model from that session, folks. Scan (or shoot with your camera phone) your drawings and send them to us at drsketchysbaltimore(at)gmail.com, or post them on our Facebook page’s wall. If you haven’t liked our page yet, do yourself a favor and go do that now: we update that page more often than the blog, so if you’d liked us already, you would have gotten a reminder about Poetry in Pasties before now, and you would have seen photos from our last session. (You could have also seen photos earlier if you followed us on Twitter.) But, since you’re reading this blog and we like you, here’s a photo from that night.

Other awesome stuff happening this week: Maria Bella will be a guest performer at Trixie & Monkey’s Summer Camp show at the Creative Alliance, and Baltimore Comic Con is next weekend. If you’re going to be geeking it out at the con, be sure to stop by Paigey’s table in the artists alley to say hi and check out her work. And we’ll update the Calendar O’Fun with more stuff as we learn about them, just so you aren’t starved of burlesque goodness while we’re taking a breather.

Speaking of our summer break, you might be wondering when it’ll be over. We’ll be back in little less than a month, on September 12, with Dahlia Derriere as your muse for an evening we’re calling “Dahlia Derriere Does Desert Dames”. In case you missed it, here’s a photo from her last session a little over a year ago:

See the rest of the photos plus artwork from that session here. We’ll post a flyer here soon—but it’ll probably be on our Facebook page quicker (hint, hint). Check back this week for that and our Femme 6 session recap, but while you wait for the photos, remember to see Femme in the flesh at Poetry in Pasties tonight.

Sugar Ann Spice this Monday!

ds20web

Our next session is this coming Monday evening, June 22! The lovely Sugar Ann Spice will be braving DC-to-Baltimore traffic to pose for your drawing pleasure.  (And if you want to see her on Saturday, scroll down to see the info on Trixie Little’s Burlesque Bootcamp!)

We’ll be giving away more awesome stuff from Atomic Books, Artist & Craftsman Supply, and Baby Tattoo Books, so come join us for more drinks and drawing at Dionysus–8 E. Preston St. in Mt. Vernon, two blocks south of Penn Station. As always, drawing starts at 7 p.m., but get there early to get a good seat.

Special thanks to Viola van Wilde for yet another stellar job modeling for us last Monday! And thanks to all of you who came out to draw her–and especially to those of you who’ve already sent in your drawings to us. We’ve gotten sketches from a couple more people than we did when Viola modeled–that time, only one person sent in their sketches, which made our lovely model (and us!) kinda sad–but of course, we’d love to post a bunch of drawings up on the blog this week. So, scan in and email your drawings to us!

ELEGANCE…on The Block

Okay folks, we’ve been posting haphazardly about various burlesque shows or other similar things going on in Baltimore, especially if one of our models were involved, but we’re going to start being more thorough. Baltimore’s scene is really taking off, and well, if you like Dr. Sketchy’s, you’ll love the various other burlesque things going on around Baltimore as well.

And no, no one’s paying us for any of this stuff. We’re usually just at all of them and we need more folks to get drunk with. Tomorrow I’ll see if I can put up a permanent calendar of upcoming stuff, but for now, here’s a pretty big one coming up on Friday.

I’m probably just ignorant, but this is the first time I’ve heard of the Hustler club doing anything Burlesque oriented…in any case, Trixie Little and Evil Hate Monkey are amazing, as are Twig & Berries, Miss Astrid, and Paco, who modeled for us in December. We’ve not seen the other performers, I THINK, but if they’re sharing a billing with those six, well, that pretty much says all you need to know right there.

Here’s a link to Trixie and Monkey’s calendar.

Here’s some of the ad copy as well (though not all of it)…

Miss D’Lish is a two-time Miss Exotic World and MAJOR influence on the entire neo-burlesque movement…she is flying in from California WITH her champagne glass to make something “elegant” happen in Baltimore!

TRIXIE & MONKEY will make sexy fun and fun sexy.
MISS ASTRID will use her one good eye to see your soul.
CATHERINE D’LISH will make you seriously thirsty.
DR. LUCKY will make you earn it.
PEEKABOO POINTE will purr and pounce.
ALBERT CABABRA will read your dirty mind.
TWIG & BERRIES will defy gravity and logic.
DJ MOMO TARO will make you shake it until it all falls off.
GAL FRIDAY will dance until your satisfied.
PACO will make everything stick together…or at least make it sticky.

For everyone: $20 General Admission Tickets Available at Door Only
(First come first serve. The club is HUGE. Most seating on the first floor will be reserved for tables, but there is a sexy second floor with tables and a balcony that looks down over the main stage)

After that, there’s a bunch more copy about how you can spend a bazillion trillion dollars on going gangster and getting bottle service, rail seatings, etc….check the link if you got that much cash.

Alexis and I will definitely be there in any case, and maybe Bill, Jeff, and others, so if your Friday is looking weak, check it out.
