– And for God’s sake, don’t forget Dr. Sketchy’s is Monday with Paco Fish!

If you missed Marla Meringue last session after a month break to catch up on your chores, re-evaluate your life goals, watch football, or restock your art supplies—well, you obviously didn’t re-evaluate your life goals in a very sane manner. And if you missed her to watch the Ravens, we bet you’ll be kicking yourself after seeing these photos for choosing to watch a bunch of guys running around in spandex over this cutie.
As always, we started with one and two minute poses.
Five minute poses were up next, with the first being the opposite hand contest—we didn’t get any drawings sent in this time for that one, so we’ll just move on to more pretty pictures of Marla. (The two winners got mystery shots from Russell of the Windup Space, btw.)
The second contest of the evening was ye old random noun contest and someone shouted out Mark Twain, so that’s what we went with.

By coincidence, it happened to be the birthday of Molly Crabapple, our illustrious founder. Marla Meringue and our own Alexis also had their birthdays recently, so we had a birthday-themed contest. Each winner (there were two) won a giant sketch pad from Artist & Craftsman Supply which is just across the street on the corner of Howard & North.

(Brian didn’t know what Molly Crabapple looks like, so just in case this ever comes up again, here’s a picture of her. 🙂 )

Since it was the anniversary of Super Mario Brothers, the third contest was the best incorporation of Mario and his crew. The prize was So Good for Little Bunnies by Brandie Milne from Baby Tattoo Books.

Thanks to Marla Meringue for an amazing night! If you want to see more Marla, she’s performing October 7 at Gallery 788. Not only that, but she and the rest of Sticky Buns Burlesque (including Paco Fish, Roma Mafia, and Nicolette Le Faye) will be performing at the Windup Space for All Sinners Night on October 30, with Gunwife Gone, The Bellevederes, Voodoo Pharmacology, & Duck Force. Thanks also to our generous sponsors Atomic Books, Artist & Craftsman Supply, and Baby Tattoo Books for donating prizes for everyone to win, Russell of the Windup Space for slinging booze and songs (did you know he won Citypaper’s Best Bartender and Windup won best Multipurpose Player?), Jeff for all the amazing photos you see above, and of course Alexis for being our gracious host.
The next Dr. Sketchy’s is Monday, September 27 (TOMORROW!), 7 o’clock, at the Windup Space with Zna.Queene of LAZERBITCH!
And here’s that awesome LAZERBITCH video again, in case you’re asking, “Who’s that?”
Doors at 6, start at 7. If you want a good seat, you better show up earlier rather than later.
Next Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School Baltimore is Monday, September 27, 2010 with Zna. Queene of LAZERBITCH! (Special thanks to J. M. Giordano for letting us use the photo above – btw, if you want to check out more of his work, check out his fashion column in the Urbanite. If look carefully, you’ll see Alexis in there at the latest Gilded Lily Burlesque show being all, um, fashionable:)
If you’re not sure who Zna. Queene or LAZERBITCH is, 1) shame on you, and 2) check out the music video below. The Windup Space guests stars at the end too, so keep an eye out for it.
We’ll have the blog post with Marla Meringue’s photos up in a few days. Until then, keep in mind, doors will be at 6, start at 7!
