Hey, Molly has a show in Baltimore starting tomorrow.

Molly Crabapple, Dr. Sketchy’s illustrious founder, has some art included in a show starting tomorrow (Sept. 5) at the Definition Gallery on 1800 Fleet Street (which I believe is at the corner of Ann St.) It runs until Sept. 27. The opening reception is tomorrow from 7 PM to 11 PM.

From Definition’s website…

Echo [ek-oh]: a sympathetic or identical response, as to sentiments expressed.

Definition Gallery presents “A Dozen Echoes,” an inspiring ensemble of a dozen female artists from across the United States. Each artist explores the unifying circumstances of being a modern woman in the 21st century while simultaneously reflecting on women’s past roles in history and culture. The gallery selected the artists for their ability to convey these personal and universal experiences with painstaking detail. The exhibition demonstrates a mastery over a variety of mediums; from traditional glazes to contemporary photography.

Alexis and I will be there tomorrow night, so if you’re up for some art in Fells tomorrow, we’ll see ya there….

Photos from Monday’s session.

Monday night went great, what we remember of it. Nicolette went above and beyond with an absolutely stunning set of outfits and frighteningly difficult poses; Andrew and Lynn managed to juggle the power-outage-fried cash register system without a single drink getting slowed down, and Alexis and I managed to not fall down ONCE even though we were about eight sheets to the wind by the last set of poses.

Not only that, but I think just about everyone there participated in the contests this time around without a shrinking violet in the bunch. (We’ll put up some photos and drawings from all that next week.)

If you have a sketch from Monday and don’t mind us putting it up in a gallery here, please, please, please email it to us. The cave-girl drawings were some of the best we’ve seen yet.

As announced on Monday, starting in September we’ll start going twice a month, the second and last week of September to be specific. (The 8th and 22nd.)

Our email box is stuffed with inquiries from models, lots of artists, and spam; September should be pretty interesting.

Dr. Sketchy’s tonight and Molly needs a favor.

Don’t forget, Dr. Sketchy’s – Baltimore is tonight at Dionysus at 7:00 pm.  We’ve gotten about three times the email than we did last time, so this might be our first sellout session.  Might want to come early!

Second, Molly Crabapple has put together a panel on low budget thingamabobs like Dr. Sketchy’s, the Craft Mafia, National Novel Writing Month, etc…..and she needs folks to click a banner in order for it to get approved for a presentation at SXSWi (South by Southwest Interactive, an international conference about digital technology and its effect on culture.

They’ve won the first round, and the final is decided by voting.  So if you’re feeling magnanimous, give her a click on her banner and help her out.
