Femme 6’s Poetry in Pasties tonight!

Okay, so we’ve slacked off a little (hey, we’re technically on break, so that’s okay, right?) and haven’t finished the recap of last month’s session with Femme 6. But you can catch her—along with other Dr. Sketchy’s models, specifically Maria Bella, Paco Fish, Marla Meringue, and Roma Mafia—tonight at Mobtown Theater, in Poetry in Pasties. Here’s a bit about the show:

There will be gravity-defying feats of breathtaking beauty, original writings by the performers themselves, retro beat poetry with a twist, classical poems re-imagined in acts of striptease, comedy and drama, a special tribute to Charm City, and many, many more surprises to stimulate you– intellectually! 😉 All of this for only $10?? WOWEEEE!

Write this down where you won’t forget it:

THIS SUNDAY, August 14th
DOORS AT 8:30, SHOW AT 9!
only $10 at the door, and there’s booze!
Mobtown Theater at Meadow Mill
3600 Clipper Mill Rd
Hampden, Maryland

Do yourself a favor and come satisfy your craving for a mind-body experience like no other. Poetry in Pasties!

We’re sure your weekend could use a little more culture and hotness, so end it right with some literary striptease.

So, since we’re been taking our sweet time to put up the recap of Femme 6’s session with us, consider this the last call for sketches of our lovely model from that session, folks. Scan (or shoot with your camera phone) your drawings and send them to us at drsketchysbaltimore(at)gmail.com, or post them on our Facebook page’s wall. If you haven’t liked our page yet, do yourself a favor and go do that now: we update that page more often than the blog, so if you’d liked us already, you would have gotten a reminder about Poetry in Pasties before now, and you would have seen photos from our last session. (You could have also seen photos earlier if you followed us on Twitter.) But, since you’re reading this blog and we like you, here’s a photo from that night.

Other awesome stuff happening this week: Maria Bella will be a guest performer at Trixie & Monkey’s Summer Camp show at the Creative Alliance, and Baltimore Comic Con is next weekend. If you’re going to be geeking it out at the con, be sure to stop by Paigey’s table in the artists alley to say hi and check out her work. And we’ll update the Calendar O’Fun with more stuff as we learn about them, just so you aren’t starved of burlesque goodness while we’re taking a breather.

Speaking of our summer break, you might be wondering when it’ll be over. We’ll be back in little less than a month, on September 12, with Dahlia Derriere as your muse for an evening we’re calling “Dahlia Derriere Does Desert Dames”. In case you missed it, here’s a photo from her last session a little over a year ago:

See the rest of the photos plus artwork from that session here. We’ll post a flyer here soon—but it’ll probably be on our Facebook page quicker (hint, hint). Check back this week for that and our Femme 6 session recap, but while you wait for the photos, remember to see Femme in the flesh at Poetry in Pasties tonight.

Roma Mafia this Monday, August 9th!

Keep in mind, this will be our ONLY SESSION IN AUGUST!  As we always do, we’re taking our little August break to recharge, travel, go on benders, and probably get arrested.

Don’t worry though, we’ll be back in September though as long as we don’t get too crazy and wake up in Equador and say, “F*ck it, we ain’t going back!”  You never know.

So, Monday, August 9th is Roma Mafia’s Dr. Sketchy’s debut and your last chance to go to Dr. Sketchy’s for an entire month.  You’ll love her, we promise.

Couple notes . . .

1) If you want a little preview, check out Palace of Wonders in DC on Friday where Roma Mafia and 7 others will be putting on a super-duper burlesque extravaganza.  Check out the calendar page (link in the right side-bar) for all the gritty details.

2) That ain’t the only thing going on this weekend though – Gilded Lily has been playing drill seargent to a bunch of budding burlesque stars for the past month or so and their first ever performance is Saturday night at the Mobtown Theater in Woodberry.  Alexis and I’ll be there, you should be too.  Details, again, are over on the calendar page.

3) While I’m mentioning, the whole calendar page has been updated – lots of events at the Palace of Wonders and there’s a Trixie & Monkey show at the Ottobar next week too.

4) The official national Dr. Sketchy’s site has been completely redone, with every branch on the planet having it’s own page.  Check it out, it looks absolutely amazing.  Traveling to see your grandma in Illinois next month?  Look up the Sketchy branch there and see what’s going on.

So . . . come see Roma Mafia this Monday at the Windup Space;  it’s your only session this August!  Doors at 6, start at 7!  Prizes from our wonderful sponsors Atomic Books, Artist & Craftsman Supply, and Baby Tattoo Books!

The Nearly Naked Truth this Friday!

Don’t forget, Gilded Lily Burlesque is performing Friday night!  If you’ve come to just one of our sessions, the odds are pretty good someone from Gilded Lily posing.  This is possibly the best burlesque show Alexis and I’ve seen in Baltimore (or anywhere else).  It’s one thing to see Viola, Sable, Paco, Maria, Luna, Lena, or Lucille sit still for a sketchpad, it’s something else entirely to see their art.

The Nearly Naked Truth

Come join Baltimore’s premiere burlesque troupe, Gilded Lily Burlesque, on Friday May 22nd for The Nearly Naked Truth! It’s a nostalgic romp back to the days when men were men and dames were kittens. These lovely ladies (with the help of Paco Fish, outstanding news reporter) will help you navigate the slippery slopes of sex, drugs, plaid pants and communism.

But, don’t get too uptight daddio! After witnessing a spicy shimmy here and a saucy shake there, you’ll be happily sliding down that slope, too! So let Gilded Lily Burlesque reveal to you the Nearly Naked Truth- it’s the American thing to do!

TWO SHOWS! 7:30 and 10:30.
Tickets are $15 and will be available in advance. Watch this space for a link. THIS WILL SELL OUT!

Here’s the event page on Facebook too.
