Photos from LiiLii’s session!

IMG_3433-1

Lots of great photos and drawings from May 11th’s session with the gorgeous LiiLii Lipstick.  Thank you to LiiLii for being our muse, Dionysus for hosting us, Bill Lindsey for driving us all over the place at the last minute, Jeff for the beautiful photos, and our sponsors Atomic Books, Artist & Craftsman Supply, and Baby Tattoo Books!

I would like to NOT thank Windows for crashing three hundred times while I attempted to put this post together.  Three hours and counting now for just one blog post . . . but no one cares about cranky operating systems, let’s get to the pretty pictures and sketches.

Check out LiiLii’s shoes on this next one.  She held that pose for 5 minutes.  I don’t think I would have made it two, but I’m a wuss.

The above was done by Annika Romeyn.  Check her sketch blog, it’s pretty damn neat.  (There’s another sketch at the end of this post too.)

These next couple are from Brian Dugan . . . (the photo in between is the pose he was drawing for the last one . . . I think)

If you want to see more of Brian’s work, take a look over here.

Next up are a few from Gene Azzam . . . the first one was from a contest incorporating anything starting with the letter “L”.

The next contest probably had the funniest entries I’ve seen in a contest yet.

“Your version of Captain Kirk hitting on LiiLii.”

IMG_3553-1

The one on the left reads, “Please James, you smell like a Ferringi.”  He responds, “You remember I’m captain of the Enterprise, right?”

The one on the right reads, “You know, Miss, Red Shirts don’t live long in space.  Perhaps you should remove it.”

I don’t think folks thought too highly of Kirk’s chances.

IMG_3558-1

“Jim, readings look unfavorable.”

“Spock, I always think there are . . . possibilities.”

We gave away Munnies from Atomic Books in Hampden, watercolors from Artist & Craftsman Supply on 137 W North Ave, and So Good for Little Bunnies from Baby Tattoo Books.  Our next session is June 8th and we’re going to have all new stuff from everyone to give away.  (Baby Tattoo sent a huge box of stuff….I’ll take a picture later this week and put it up later on in the week.)

Next session is June 8th with Viola Van Wilde of Gilded Lily!  No Memorial Day session since we’ll all probably be drunk at someone’s barbecue somewhere.

So no Dr. S this coming Monday…..you know what you should do to make yourself feel better?  You should go see Gilded Lily in The Nearly Naked Truth at Mobtown theater on Friday….half the folks who’ve ever modeled for us are in it, and frankly, it’s the best damn burlesque show we’ve seen them do yet.  It’s FIFTEEN BUCKS.  You know what this would cost in NYC?  It would be THOUSANDS, and I swear this isn’t hyperbole, and I’ll call you a liar if you repeat this, but they’re a lot better than the couple shows I’ve managed to catch up there.  Check’em out.

If you don’t know where Mobtown Theater is, it’s in Meadow Mill about two stops on the light rail up from MICA (the Woodberry stop…big building with a clock tower thing on it).

Here’s a last photo and sketch for you…

Sketches from last session with Bambi Galore (and a couple from Lady Vile’s)

Here’s a sampling of some of the sketches from last session with Bambi.  These first couple are from Gene…

The next was for the panel contest to with a wood canvas from Artist & Craftsman Supply (137 W North Ave) . . the contest was to tell a two panel or more story (like a comic) using the poses…

These next two were from the Lady Vile session before Bambi’s…

The next was another contest for a moleskin from Atomic Books with the task being incorporating a chimpanzee attack into your drawing.  This one seriously cracked me up (as did most…for some reason folks went bananas with that one.)

Yes, I just went there.

Blame it on the mimosa.

Back to Bambi’s session, these next couple were done by Annika Romeyn.

This last is from the “draw Bambi vs. Barbie” contest, the prize being a DIY vinyl Munny from Atomic Books.

That’s it for the sketches…last reminder, next session is tomorrow night, Monday, March 22nd, at 7 o’cock with Lena Grove from Gilded Lily.

Your sketches of Lady Vile

As I’m still a little hung-over and bummed about losing an hour of my already short day (waking up at 1 p.m. then realizing it’s actually 2 when you have a shit-ton of things to do kinda sucks), I’m not gonna get too chatty here. So, without further ado, here are the Lady Vile sketches we’ve received from you.

022309-annikar

A montage of sketches by Annika Romeyn. She won a brand-new  sketchbook from Artist & Craftsman Supply for the drawing of the mouse-infested Lady Vile, her entry for the second contest of the night which was to illustrate a guess at how our model got her name.

The following three drawings are by the lovely burlesque star Lily Stark White.

From one of our most faithful regulars, Mary Tully:

And, last but certainly not least, sketches from another regular, Gene Snyder.

Gene’s entry for the “best depiction of a chimp attack”:022309-genes5

And, since we didn’t get a scan of the winning chimp attack drawing, here’s a photo of the winner with her entry (the one with the dozen chimps, on the right):img_2564-2As an aside, the guy on the left apparently has been collecting our flyers, which is pretty flattering. I would have included photos of his binder, which is covered with flyers from as far back as October, but the photo came out way too dark, unfortunately.

And, in case you’re not on our mailing list (email us if you want to get on it), or haven’t joined our Facebook group, or haven’t noticed the link on our Myspace page, check out Andras Frenyo’s amazing panoramic photos of this session.

Don’t forget that our next session is tomorrow night (or tonight, if you’re reading this at your desk on Monday), when Bambi Galore will be up from DC to pose for your drawing pleasure. Bambi is not only part of the DC Gurly Show and DC Libertines, but she also hosted the DC branch of Dr. Sketchy’s. See you then!
